Parent / Teacher Consultations and Reports

Assessment of student progress and feedback to parents takes place four times a year for formal academic reports and twice a year for parent/teacher consultations. Reports are sent home in the middle of each semester with advisory grades for effort and attainment in all subjects and final course results are issued at the end of each semester, in order to keep parents fully informed about their child's progress. However, we are always available to discuss any concerns you may have regarding your child's progress. We experience far greater success with these meetings if appointments are scheduled.

Student Uniform & Appearance

Most places of work, clubs and societies have a dress code, and Chatsworth International School is no exception. Students are required to attend wearing the correct uniform. It is intentionally distinctive so that all students are easily recognized as members of our school community.
'Uniform' means 'all the same', and this is why we aim to ensure that the dress code is not only recognizable, but also enforceable. Students must dress as required, at all times.

The uniform is available from:

Bibi & Baba Uniform World
#03 - 06/07 Shaw Centre
Telephone: 67327022
The basic, daily uniform requirements for students are as follows:
  • Chatsworth shirt
  • Navy Blue trousers or shorts (males) or skirts (females)
  • Black leather shoes (with effect from August 2003)
  • A Chatsworth sweatshirt is available and may be purchased from the school
  • Trousers must be obtained from the school supplier and must not be modified in any way
  • Skirt length must be between 3 inches below and 3 inches above the knee
  • No jewelry is allowed except for a watch, as well as a single 'sleeper' in each ear for those who have pierced ears
  • Jewelry worn for religious reasons must be supported by a parental letter, accepted by the Principal
  • Make up is not allowed
  • Hats are not to be worn in sheltered area
  • Students are allowed to wear singlets under their shirts, but not t-shirts or vests that can be seen
  • Extreme hairstyles or colours are not permitted - the Principal alone will decide what is considered to be 'extreme' and, therefore, unacceptable
It is important to note that if students wear incorrect uniform, they will either be asked to remove the incorrect article(s) or sent home to change.

During PE lessons, students are required to wear a different uniform, which for reasons of hygiene, must not include items of clothing worn during the normal school day:

  • Chatsworth PE t-shirt
  • Blue shorts
  • Clean training shoes
  • White sports socks
Students should have a complete change of clothing for all PE lessons. Outdoor activities take place whatever the weather! Also, all students are expected to shower after PE lessons and should, therefore, bring a towel and a change of underwear.

Fire Drill & Emergencies

The procedure for a fire drill involves all staff and students exiting the school buildings and congregating on the Basketball Court. All students and staff are then accounted for to ensure that everyone is safe. Parents and visitors to the school are asked to collect a pass from the school guard to ensure that their presence is recorded and their safety therefore ensured. Maps detailing the exit routes can be found on the doors of all Junior Programme classrooms.

Medical

Throughout the school day, we have a nurse on duty to attend to any medical needs. If your child has an accident or illness during school times, that requires her attention, a note will come home with your child indicating that he/she has been to see the nurse. At the beginning of the year, (or when your child joins Chatsworth), there will be an Information Form to be filled out. This will ask if your child has any serious allergies that need to be monitored and whether or not you consent for your child to be given children's paracetamol. For serious accidents and illnesses, you will be contacted as soon as possible.

The nurse will also regularly check for head lice. If head lice is found, you will be contacted as soon as possible. Students must be taken home for immediate treatment.

If your child needs to bring medication to school for any reason, the homeroom teacher must be informed. This ensures that the medication is taken appropriately and is kept safely during the school day.

Useful Materials For Your Child

Although we supply classrooms with all necessary stationery needs, we do request that children have the following list of items with them each day, in order to facilitate a smooth day:

  • A pen or biro with which to write, plus a spare.
  • A pencil.
  • A long ruler/straight edge.
  • Coloured pens and/or pencils.
  • Lined writing paper and folders, or school exercise books.
  • Subject textbooks.
  • A good English dictionary.
